Dartford eye transfer market
WITH Dartford's Southern
League Division One East game at Barking & East Ham United falling victim to
the weather, Tony Burman decided to make use of Saturday's postponement to cast
an eye on their next opponents Waltham Forest, writes Stephen McCartney.
The Darts' director/manager watched Forest pile more misery on Great Wakering
Rovers - who are inside the drop zone - winning three goals to nil.
Burman, who plans to have two full training sessions leading up to their trip to
Wadham Lodge, will be hoping Eddie McClements comes out unscathed.
He told the club's website: "After phoning all the players, I thought
"what am I going to do now,"
"After yet more phone calls, I found, with a bit of relief, a game and went
to watch this coming Saturday's opponents."
Burman admitted he was impressed with Waltham Forest's display and is expecting
a tough game against a side that are seven points from the play-off zone.
"It is another difficult away game for us against a team trying to make the
play-offs," he added.
Burman revealed he is looking to strengthen his squad and has targets in mind.
"Whilst I have the opportunity, I would like to thank the backroom staff,
Paul Sawyer, Bob Pittaway and Denis Reid for their hard work and commitment to
Dartford Football Club, whilst I have been in charge.
"I am hoping Eddie will increase his participation in training and come
through the week without any problems.
"I am aware that some players have left or been released from their
respective clubs around this area and I have discussed some of them in depth
with Paul Sawyer. However, I have not finished assessing the players that
we have here at the moment - so far they are doing fine."
