Sampson makes new appointments at Dartford

But club are still searching for under-16 manager

DARTFORD Football Club, who will be playing in the Southern League Division One East next season, have announced changes within the management structure of the club, writes Stephen McCartney.

Steve Sales, who has been manager of the under eighteen youth team for the past two and a half years, has been appointed reserve team manager.  An assistant has yet to be appointed but an announcement is expected to be made in early June.

Meanwhile, Dennis Reid has been appointed under eighteen manager, and will be assisted by Cengiz Ibrahim and David Monteith.

Reid was a player with Danson Furness, Chatham Town, Deal Town and Greenwich Borough before becoming coach at Beckenham Town, as well as being the assistant manager for the reserve team at the Eden Park Avenue outfit.

For the past two years, Reid has been manager and coach for Gravesend & Northfleet's under eighteen MUSH Kent Youth League team.

Ibrahim, however, spent four years at Sky Blue Kestrals as first team goalkeeper and one season as Erith & Belvedere's number one shot-stopper.  Teaming up with Reid at Gravesend & Northfleet's under eighteen side, he was assistant manager and goalkeeping coach.

Monteith has joined the coaching staff for the under eighteen team.  A former Dartford player, he unfortunately had to retire from football last season through injury.  Monteith has experience at non-league level having played for Deal Town, where he won the FA Vase in 2000 at Wembley under current Darts first team manager Tommy Sampson, and has also played for Chatham Town.

The position of manager for the Under 16 team has still to be filled. Applicants wishing to be considered for this position should contact Tommy Sampson on 0795 795 6868 or club secretary Peter Martin on 01322 864038.
