Spurs star creates good impression during Ashford visit

Tottenham Hotspur star, Jermaine Defoe created a good impression when he visited Ashford Town's Homelands ground last Thursday night, writes Stephen McCartney.

Defoe is good friends with Margate striker Moses Jjunju, and watched his friend in action as Chris Kinnear's side came away with a 1-0 victory.

And the England striker impressed Ashford Town's chief executive, Mark Jenner.

He said: "We did indeed have Jermaine Defoe at the club on Thursday with his friends come to watch Moses.

"We gave him a warm welcome in the club and he kindly signed some shirts, programmes and Tottenham memorabilia for us.

"He even paid to get in and stayed for the whole game.

"He was a very polite and obliging young man who is a credit to the Spurs."

The Ashford Town shirt, which Defoe signed, was auctioned off during today's GB Approvals Trophy, which was held at the Homelands.  AFC Wimbledon won the tournament and you can read details elsewhere on www.kentishfootball.co.uk
