Reynolds returns to Ashford
Dr Martens League Eastern Division side Ashford Town
have announced the appointment of Tony Reynolds as assistant manager to work
alongside first team manager Tim Thorogood, writes Stephen McCartney.
Chief Executive Mark Jenner said: "Reynolds, is a former Ashford Town
player and manager who left the club originally to take up the challenge of
managing Welling United.
"Having left Welling after one season Tony has largely been out of football
for a couple of years for personal reasons as his work commitments have not
allowed him to find sufficient time to devote to another manager's position.
"Very popular with local fans, Tony has many years of non-league experience
and is a proven organiser and motivator of players.
"The club hopes to draw on his considerable range of contacts within
football to seek out new talent to compliment the existing squad."
A delighted Thorogood, added: "I am delighted to make the appointment in
what was such as important season for the club.
"The reorganisation of the league structure at the end of the season made a
top seven finish for a club a priority and having someone of Tony's experience
to share the responsibilities would be the first step in improving the club's
current performance.
"We discussed the team's performance after the game at Folkestone Invicta
on Boxing Day and found we agreed on all the important points and weaker areas
they need to be dealt with."
