Margate's Leberl moves to Dagenham
Nationwide Conference National club Dagenham & Redbridge
have announced the signing of Jake Leberl from Margate.
Leberl began his career at Crewe Alexander as an apprentice under Dario Gradi. The midfielder joined Dover Athletic in 1997 before making the short trip across Kent to sign for Margate in 2002.
“Jake is a player I’ve admired for a long time”, said manager John Still. “I tried to take him to Bristol Rovers when I was there and am absolutely delighted to have done the deal and brought him to the Glyn Hopkin Stadium.”
Leberl attracted a lot of offers from other Conference clubs, including Gravesend & Northfleet, but Still persuaded the 27-year-old to sign a two-year part-time contract with the Daggers.
The current Margate player-of-the-year was pleased to be joining the Daggers adding: “I know John well and he’s signed a number of good players and that’s why I’ve decided to join them.”
