Margate cancel warm-up at Folkestone
MARGATE have decided their pre-season friendly at
Cheriton Road on Tuesday (13th July) against Ryman Premier Division outfit
Folkestone Invicta should not be played to give their players more time to
prepare for the Conference South season, writes Stephen McCartney.
Manager Chris Kinnear explained: "Talking with the players it has been
decided that to formulate the squad for the new season it would be better to
train for a longer period before playing competitive matches.
"In past seasons there have been many niggling injuries and in order to
avoid these we will be training initially for a longer period, and then
concentrating on several games in quick succession to build stamina, being the
games on the 3rd, 5th and 7th August.
"During the last week before the new season kicks off the squad will be
taking things slightly easier back on the training ground and not playing
competitive games to give time for any knocks and niggles to heal."
