Fleet host the pride of Kent ladies football

As part of their continued support of ladies football, Nationwide Conference club Gravesend & Northfleet are opening their Stonebridge Road ground to host a high profile ladies friendly, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Fleet ladies side are hosting Gillingham on Sunday 14th August (kick off at 2pm) and admission to the game is free.

Gills' play their football in the South East Combination  League, which is one league above the newly promoted Fleet Ladies team, who will play in the London and South East Regional League this season.

"We are hoping it will be a great example of how football is developing in Kent with the two highest placed Kent league teams battling.

"It will demonstrate why they are in that position.

"Both teams are lucky to have the support of the adjoining men's clubs to help them develop and to add recognition to the hard work they do," said Fleet's Tina Martin.

Also on the day the ladies section will be launching their new club kit for this season and receiving a grant from the Football Foundation for future development of the ladies team.
