Fleet release Shearer

NATIONWIDE Conference National club Gravesend & Northfleet have cancelled the contract of central defender Lee Shearer, who had been on loan at Ryman League Premier Division neighbours Dover Athletic recently. That agreement expired last week, reports www.nonleaguedaily.com

The Fleet announced in a statement that the decision was taken owing to "restricted first-team opportunities".

Shearer, 27, is a former England Schoolboy international who started his career with Leyton Orient. He later played for Dover and Margate being joining the Fleet in July last year.

It is expected that he will team-up with his former Orient boss Tommy Taylor at Southern League Premier Division outfit King’s Lynn.
