Fleet announce Ladies day against Scarborough

FA Charter Standard Club AEI Gravesend Ladies, continue to go from strength to strength in the local community, writes Stephen McCartney.

The ladies team are working in partnership with Nationwide Conference club Gravesend & Northfleet and Women's National Premier League side Charlton Athletic this season, who play their games at Stonebridge Road - the home of the Fleet.

AEI Gravesend have begun a coaching programme in the local community to offer free coaching to girls interested in getting involved in the game or to offer coaching to improve existing players and with links to Charlton they can offer routes from beginners to excellence.

The Ladies coaching team have recently run a very successful girls football after school club at Meopham Secondary School in partnership with the school, Kent girls and women's football development officer and Gravesend & Northfleet's PASE scheme.

To continue and improve the service offered AEI will be moving to Swan Valley Community School's floodlit Astrotuf pitch, starting weekly from Tuesday 25th January.

The qualified ladies coaching team will be running a girls football development centre for 11-16 year-olds every Tuesday from 4:00pm-5:15pm.

Anyone is welcome to come along to attend the coaching sessions and AEI Gravesend have also invited local schools to attend as an after school club.

Also as part of this scheme, on Tuesday 8th February, AEI Gravesend will be organising a schools girl only tournament in partnership with Gravesend & Northfleet, where their coaches will provide a free skills coaching session for girls.

After this Gravesend & Northfleet will be hosting a ladies day at the Fleet on Saturday 5th March, at their home game against Scarborough at Stonebridge Road.

All girls/ladies will gain free admission to the game against the Seadogs and AEI Gravesend will be showcasing a skills session at half-time for the girls involved in the scheme.

Meanwhile, AEI Gravesend are at home to Redhill Ladies tomorrow (23rd January), kick off 2:00pm at AEI Sports and Social Club, Kings Farm Estate.
