Ford role made permanent

Graham Westley, manager of Nationwide Conference club Stevenage Borough, explained his decision to release Jimmy Dack from his coaching role at the club.

"Jim did everything I expected of him last season. He was definitely the right man for the job that needed doing. But time moves on and decisions get made.

"The important thing is to concentrate on Jim’s efforts that contributed to our progress in the FA Cup and to the play-off final. He should be proud of those important achievements. I hope that he goes on to bigger things in the future."

Westley also confirmed former Gravesend & Northfleet manager Andy Ford as his assistant after the two worked together on a short-term basis at the end of last season.

"Fordy is an experienced man, and I particularly like his managerial background. When your number two has managed, it helps. Especially when his coaching skills are technically sound. I believe that we forged a strong partnership last year. And I am pretty confident that we will become formidable."
