Experienced Bowry signs for Fleet

Nationwide Conference side Gravesend & Northfleet have announced the signing of former Colchester United midfielder Bobby Bowry.

Bowry was signed prior to their 3-1 victory at Folkestone Invicta on Saturday and has agreed a one-year, full time contract.

The 33-year-old has a wealth of Football League experience with previous clubs being Queen's Park Rangers, Crystal Palace, Millwall and Colchester United, for whom he jointly made in excess of 270 League and cup appearances.

He was released at the end of last season, having made in excess of 90 League and cup appearances for the U's over a three-year period.

Meanwhile, Fleet defender Lee Protheroe has agreed a new one-year, part-time contract.

His start to the forthcoming season will be delayed, however, as he is only half way through a four-match ban received at the end of last season.

A further one-year option has been taken up on midfielder Matt Lovell's contract and he too has agreed part-time terms for the 2005-06 campaign, reports the Gravesend & Northfleet website www.gnfc.co.uk

And ironically, Bowry's former club, Colchester United are the visitors to Stonebridge Road tonight (Tuesday) for a pre-season friendly.

Admission prices are £8 (adults), £4 (concessions) but season ticket holders don't have to pay on the night.
