We want to claim the bragging rights over Bromley, says Darts boss Tony Burman

Wednesday 20th April 2011
DARTFORD boss Tony Burman says he wants his side to get the better over rivals Bromley - when the two Kent sides lock horns with each other twice in an exciting ten-day period, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Darts travel to Hayes Lane for a Blue Square Bet South fixture on Good Friday, before they contest a mouth-watering Kent Senior Cup Final at Princes Park on Monday 2 May (3pm).

Bromley go into the game sitting in tenth place in the table with 14 wins, 12 draws and 13 defeats with 54 points from 39 games, whilst the Darts are one place below with a record of 13 wins, 12 draws and 14 defeats, with 51 points from 39 games.

With only three league games left to play, the two Kent sides are battling it out to see which one will claim a top-ten finish, and Kent Senior Cup glory.

“It’s the first of a couple of matches scheduled where who will get the bragging rights,” said Burman.

“If we can get three points on Friday we’ll go above Bromley and the Kent Senior Cup is up for grabs and that’s what we want to get.”

Bromley started the campaign like a house on fire, winning their first seven games and were enjoying life at the top of the table, where as Dartford struggled at the start of their first ever campaign at this level, and the two Kent club’s are set to meet each other in the middle.

“Bromley have had a strange season similar to us,” said Burman.

“They have picked up in the last couple of games that’s for sure and we’ve lost our last two games.

“I think we’re very dangerous when things are down and I’m expecting a decent performance from the guys on Friday.”

Burman’s side suffered a 4-1 home defeat to Boreham Wood last Saturday and went down to a single goal defeat at Havant & Waterlooville in their next game.

“Obviously the Boreham Wood game was very disappointing,” said Burman.

“I’ve been quoted as saying it was a “rubbish” performance because there was too many things go wrong with it and to lose the game 4-1 was just a crazy situation, but that’s the third time that’s happened and it’s disappointing that’s for sure.”

Reflecting on Monday’s defeat, Burman was slightly more satisfied.

He said: “I felt we deserved something out of the game.  It was a much better performance.  I think they had one shot and scored.  We had 10 or 12 corners in the second half but I can’t say the goalkeeper’s made a decent save in that 45 minutes. But whether Havant have defended well I don’t know.

“But we had a lot of good play and the players’ worked hard in numbers so although we lost it was a little bit of a better performance.”

Danny Harris, meanwhile, has been ruled out of the Bromley game with a hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, The Kent County Football Association have set the prices for the Kent Senior Cup Final, which takes place at Princes Park Stadium, Grassbanks, Darenth Road, Dartford, Kent DA1 1RT on Monday, 2 May, 3pm.
