We've shown that we can compete, says Tonbridge Angels boss Tommy Warrilow

TONBRIDGE ANGELS boss Tommy Warrilow says he is looking for improvement when the takes his side to Bromley on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Angels climbed off the foot of the Blue Square Bet South table with a 1-1 draw against Welling United yesterday.

Star striker Frannie Collin scored his and the Angels’ third goal of the season to cancel out Harry Baker’s opener for the Wings.

The Angels leapfrogged over their Kent rivals into 20th place in the table after Bromley went down to an unlucky 3-2 defeat away to Chelmsford City.

Mark Goldberg’s side only have Weston-super-Mare below them in the table and both Kent clubs go into the Hayes Lane showdown with just one point to their name after three league outings.

Warrilow said: “It’s nice to have a local game. I’d rather go to Bromley on a Bank Holiday than say a Havant & Waterlooville, but with the games coming thick and fast, we’ve shown we can compete, so we’ve just to tighten up in one or two areas as the season goes on.”

Former Bristol City defender Henry Muggeridge made his debut for the club and Warrilow was pleased with his performance.

“Henry Muggeridge has come in today and done really well,” said the boss.

Warrilow lost former Dover Athletic defender Ollie Schulz to a red-card yesterday and cannot afford to lose any more players because he operates with a small squad.

He said: “We’ve just got Sonny (Miles) back from the hernia operation, so Ollie (Schulz) will be a big loss.

“We’ve also lost Tom Davis for 6-8 weeks (having fractured his tibia late on in the Salisbury game), but we’ll have to get on with it.”

Warrilow added: “We’re always looking for ways to improve, but with the players I’ve got, it’s going to be difficult to improve on that.

“I’ve just got to make sure they gel as a side and in the first three games we’ve shown that we have.”

Bromley won only four league games at Hayes Lane last season and were held to a goal-less draw by Staines Town on the opening day of this season.

Bromley winger Albert Jarrett is available after completing his three-match suspension.
