We're keeping the league informed about the stand situation, says Neil Cugley

FOLKESTONE INVICTA’S scheduled New Year’s Day game against Ramsgate at Cheriton Road has been postponed following the storm damage to the main seated stand over the Christmas holiday.

Manager Neil Cugley issued a statement on www.folkestoneinvictafc.co.uk to provide an update.

He said: “We’ve had a team of people in today and it needs a bit more work than we thought.

“The ground will remain closed for the time being and of course Wednesday’s game has had to be called off.

“Following that we’ve got two away games, so it gives us some time to get the work done and we’re planning to be up and running in time for the next home game.

“It’s disappointing, of course, when we are on such a good run, but we’ll do our best to keep that going at Walton Casuals on Saturday (January 4) and at Merstham the following weekend (January 11).”

Cugley added: “We’re keeping the league informed about the situation but there’s nothing more we can do about it until the work is done and we get the ground open again” said Neil.

“Maybe we’ll have a minute’s silence for the stand at the next home game!”

The next scheduled home fixture is on January 18 when Guernsey are the visitors. All supporters are reminded that this fixture has an early kick-off - at 12.45pm - to accommodate the Channel Island club.

Meanwhile, new dates for both last weekend’s postponed match and the Ramsgate game have already been agreed.

Herne Bay will now visit Cheriton Road on Tuesday, January 28 and Ramsgate will visit on Tuesday, February 4 – both with a 7.45pm kick-off.
