Welling United unveil the loan signing of Tyrone Marsh

Tuesday 05th August 2014

WELLING UNITED boss Jamie Day has boosted his attacking options by signing forward Tyrone Marsh on loan from League Two side Oxford United.

The 20-year-old striker has joined on loan until late December and is available for selection in Saturday’s Vanarama Conference opener against AFC Telford United at Park View Road.

Welling are without the suspended Kieron St Aimie for the opening three games while summer signing Charlie Penny faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Day told the club’s website: “We had to dip into the loan market. Charlie Penny probably needs an operation which is going to leave him out for three to four months so we’ve lost a striker there.

“Kieron St Aimie is suspended for the first three games so as it stood we didn’t have a recognised striker at the club who is available for the first few matches.

“We needed to get someone in to fill that gap and when Kieron is back we’ve still got another forward player.

“Tyrone is someone we were interested in last season so I’m pleased to now bring him to the club.

“He has lots of ability and I look forward to working with him during the first half of this season. I’m sure he’ll do well for Welling.”

Marsh will wear squad number 11 for the Wings.

EBBSFLEET UNITED have unveiled the signing of midfielder Jordan Sanderson, 20, to become their 23
rd member of their squad.

Sanderson has put pen-to-paper on a one-year contract at Stonebridge Road this afternoon.

The triallist was previously with Colchester United, having come through the Essex side’s academy and he made his U’s debut on the final day of the 2010/11 season, prior to signing a professional contract.

The tall central midfielder spent time on loan at Chelmsford City in 2010/11, playing a key part in the Clarets’ run to the play-offs that season.

Fleet boss Steve Brown told the club’s website: “Jordan was released by Colchester in the summer and he has been on trial with us since the beginning of the pre-season run of games. He played very well at Dulwich Hamlet and then sustained a hamstring injury and he came back into the squad against Gillingham and gave a very tidy cameo performance in the latter stages of the match.

“I have been very impressed with his attitude and skill in training and I am pleased he has further added to the strength in depth of our first-team squad.”

The Fleet were due to open their Vanarama Conference South campaign against Salisbury City on Saturday.

But a Football Association Appeal Board today head an appeal from Salisbury City FC in respect of the club’s expulsion from the Football Conference.  The appeal was dismissed.

A League statement said: “The parties to the appeal, who were both given the full opportunity of attending the hearing at Wembley Stadium today, were Salisbury City FC Ltd under its present owners and the Football Conference.

“The Appeal Board decided not to allow the former owners of the club to attend the hearing. The Appeal Board carefully considered a request from those former owners to take a full part in the appeal but came to the view they had no legal standing to represent the club.

“As a result of this appeal, Salisbury City FC is no longer able to participate in any division of the Football Conference. The club will now be removed from the Vanarama Conference South fixture list for the coming season which starts this Saturday, 9th August.”
