Concord Rangers is always a difficult away trip and it’s a club I have a lot of respect for what they have achieved over the years, says Welling United coach Hugo Langton

WELLING UNITED coach Hugo Langton says it’s quite normal to have teething problems in August.

Mark Goldberg’s men are in ninth-place in the Vanarama National League South table with 11 points from seven league games.

The Wings came away from Chelmsford City with a point in a 1-1 draw last Saturday, before beating Tonbridge Angels 4-2 at Park View Road two days later.

Newly-promoted Tonbridge Angels are rooted to the foot of the table with four points.

“Monday was an interesting game with Tonbridge, especially in the extreme heat, having played 48 hours before,” said Langton.

“I felt we played well, scored some top goals but we still feel there’s areas that we need to improve on.

“The season is still young so having teething problems is quite normal.”

Welling United travel to Concord Rangers tomorrow, a side that are one place and one point below Goldberg’s side.

“Concord Rangers is always a difficult away trip,” added Langton.

“It’s a club I have a lot of respect for and what they have achieved over the years.  Every season they get written off and every season they continue to beat good teams and do well.

“I always enjoy going to Concord as there’s a lot of nice people there.

“We’ve had a few minor knocks and bruises of late but nothing for us to panic about. We’ve got a good squad and we trained well last night.

“It’s been an exciting start to the season for everyone in the division and it’s going to be fun to watch how things unfold for all the teams over the next eight games or so.”
