We'd love to see a big crowd backing the lads', says Fisher boss Steve Firkins

Sunday 23rd December 2012
FISHER are offering discounted admission charges for Millwall season ticket holders over the festive period.

The Fish have only Sevenoaks Town below them in the Kent Hurlimann Football League table, with one win and four draws from their fourteen games.

They welcome sixth-placed Cray Valley (Paper Mills) to Champion Hill on Thursday, 27 December, followed by another home game, against third-from-bottom Holmesdale on Saturday, 29 December (3pm).

Cray Valley became the first side to beat leaders Erith Town, when they came away from Erith Sports Stadium with a 4-0 victory yesterday, courtesy of goals from Tunde Aderonmu, two from Luke Tanner and one from Ben Healy.

Kent staged only two games over the weekend because of the wash-out – the other one was Maidstone United’s 2-2 draw against Worthing on the artificial 3G pitch.

“Both games are south London derbies and we want to see big crowds cheering on our Bermondsey boys,” said club secretary Dan York.

“With Millwall fans facing a football famine as they go through the holiday period with no home game, we’re repeating our offer to Lions’ season ticket holders who can watch each game for just £3.50 – half our usual admission price.”

Fisher manager Steve Firkins is looking to get his season back on track after a disappointing start against their next opponents, who hail from Eltham and Bromley.

He said: “”I’m really looking forward to these two games as a chance to push on and take our improved form into the New Year.

“Fisher’s excellent support makes a real difference to the players and as a Bermondsey boy myself I know that Fisher and Millwall share plenty of support in the area.

“We’d love to see a big crowd backing the lads at these important games.”

The Fish are also using the two festive fixtures to celebrate their youth teams.  The club have invited their youngsters, ranging in age from under 7s to three highly talented under 18 sides to watch both games along with their coaches.

“Fisher are firmly committed to developing talented young players from Bermondsey, Rotherhithe and beyond,” added Mr York.

“We can offer the best young prospects the chance to play first team football at a high level.

“Already this year four youth team products have played first team football for Fisher and scouts from Football League clubs are regular attendees at our under 18 fixtures.

“We launched three new Bermondsey based sides this year, with support from volunteer coaches from the Millwall FC Community Scheme and our under 18 Academy side is giving young lads from the area the chance to combine their love for football with study for recognised academic qualifications.”

Fisher are the second highest supported club in the Kent League with average crowds of 108 and they play their home games at Dulwich Hamlet’s Champion Hill Stadium and play an attractive brand of passing football.

Standard admission charges: £7 (adults), £4 (concessions), FREE (under 16s accompanied by an adult).

Millwall season ticket holders for games against Cray Valley and Holmesdale: £3.50 (adults), £2 (concessions), FREE (under 16s accompanied by an adult).
