We are really pleased with the team we have, says Margate assistant Stuart Cash

MARGATE assistant manager Stuart Cash says the club’s trip to Dublin will bond the club’s new-look squad.

Manager Terry Brown has been busy bringing in fresh faces to Hartsdown Park during the summer and the Ryman Premier League club have flown to Dublin for their preparations.

“This trip to Ireland is really something me and Terry were keen to do as it gives us the opportunity to work the players hard, but also help us bond as a team,” Cash told www.margate-fc.co.uk.

“We have made a lot of new signings and the best way to learn about someone is spending 24 hours with them every day”.

As the squad jetted off to Dublin this morning, Cash added that bonding as a squad would be a large part of the focus this weekend.

“While we have a game to play on Monday its not all about what happens on the pitch,” explained Cash.

“A trip like this at Ryman League level is unheard of but that is testament to the new owners who have given us this opportunity.

“In terms of the weekend it is going to be a tough one for the players. We land this afternoon and go straight into a light training session then it is double sessions Saturday and Sunday before obviously the game on Monday”.

Margate face Airtricity Premier Division Side UCD on Monday at the UCD Bowl and Cash says any Margate fans making the journey will see all 20 squad players in action.

“Each player will get 45 minutes. The result is irrelevant but we would obviously love to win for the fans that are making the trip out here”.

While today marks the start of the new season, Cash admits that he and Brown have not had a summer off as they prepare to launch an assault on the Ryman Premier League title.

Cash said: “We haven’t had a rest, it has been a manic summer but the squad is complete and we are really pleased with the team we have.

“We are going to need some luck but hopefully it is going to be a really successful season for Margate Football Club.”
