We are really looking forward to meeting the fans, says Cray Wanderers boss Keith Bird

CRAY WANDERERS supporters can quiz their new management team following Saturday’s FA Trophy First Qualifying Round tie against Hendon.

It is the first real opportunity that first team manager Keith Bird and his assistant Mike Paye have had to share with the fans their hopes for the future.

The club are rooted to the foot of the Ryman Premier League table with seven points from 12 games – but the new management team have won their last two games in charge of the club.

The Wands defeated Metropolitan Police 4-1 at Hayes Lane in the Ryman Premier League on 5 October, before knocking Three Bridges out of the Robert Dyas Ryman League Cup with a 2-0 away win.

“We are really looking forward to meeting the fans,” said Bird.

“Things have been very busy since taking over and it is really important to us to keep the fans informed and to give us a chance to us to update them on some of the changes we have made already.”

The former Bromley reserve team manager says he is under no illusions that there is still a long way to go if they are to lift the historic club off the bottom of the Ryman Premier League and out of the relegation zone.

“We are in a fight and all in it together so the fans are going to be a key member of the squad as the 12th man,” added Bird.

Cray Wanderers’ chairman Gary Hillman added: “There has been a lot of upheaval recently, so it is important that myself, Keith and Mike explain to our supporters where we are at, where we hope to be at the end of the season and how we hope to get there.”
