We are offering a FREE alternative to Christmas shopping, says Woodstock chairman Maurice Dunk

Tuesday 27th November 2012
WOODSTOCK SPORTS’ chairman Maurice Dunk has explained why the club have decided to offer FREE admission to all supporters for Saturday’s home game against Greenwich Borough.

Ben Taylor’s side are presently fifth-bottom in the Kent Hurlimann Football League table, with four wins and four draws from their fourteen league outings.

And with people attracted to shopping centres in the run up to Christmas, the rural Sittingbourne based football club are offering free admission for Saturday’s game.

Gerry Cox’s side are one place lower in the table, having won two and drawn three of their thirteen league games.

“Christmas shopping starts in earnest on Saturday and for anyone wanting an alternative we are offering free entry to our game,” said Mr Dunk.

“None of our games have been dull this year, even if the results have been a bit disappointing.

“Our two main strikers, Ashley Baverstock and James MacDonald have forged a good partnership which has seen them bag 29 goals already in all competitions.”

Baverstock has bagged sixteen goals in 17 games, while MacDonald has converted 13 goals in fifteen games.

Mr Dunk added: “Our contractor is waiting for a dry day to put our new stand up and generally everything is going well for us with a real buzz around the club.

“Like a lot of clubs though at this time of year we expect attendances to drop so let’s hope by making it FREE entry we can encourage a few along.”
