Walker unveils "significant" Pouton signing
Wednesday 15th July 2009
MAIDSTONE UNITED have today announced that they have reached an agreement with former Dover Athletic midfielder Alan Pouton for this season. The former Gillingham ace was instrumental in the Whites successful Ryman Premier League championship winning success last season and had offers from several clubs for his services.
However, after due consideration, the 32-year-old Geordie agreed to sign for Maidstone United, which delighted the Stones' joint-management team of Alan Walker and Lloyd Hume.
"I've known about Pouts for some time and both Lloyd and myself know what a good player he is," Walker told www.maidstoneunited.co.uk.
"The only reason he has left Dover is that he couldn't commit to the extra travelling in Conference South.
"After seeing him at first hand on one of my coaching courses recently, I was able to get to know him and he has been able to get to know us.
"This is a significant signing for Maidstone United."
