Walker raids Chatham for two highly-rated youngsters

Dover Athletic boss Clive Walker has raided his old club Chatham Town to bring two highly rated youngsters to Crabble, writes Justin Allen - www.doverathletic.com

Joining Whites are 6ft 2ins centre half Matt Bourne, 19, and lightning-fast left winger Byron Walker, 18, both on contract.

Bourne, who has penned a two-year deal, was player of the season for the past two years at Maidstone Road.

Meanwhile, Walker (no relation to Clive) has signed for one year and is a player that the Dover manager has high hopes for.

Chairman Jim Parmenter said: "These two youngsters give us some real pace and are much needed young legs to play around our more experienced players.

"I expect to see these two guys possibly keep out of the team some of the more experienced members of our squad."

These signings rule out the possibility of winger Chris Chase signing a contract at Crabble.

Mr Parmenter added: "We made Chris an offer but he didn't get back to us. We've gone to explore other options so we won't pursue Chris."

The club are hoping to make one more major signing this summer.
