Walker offered new contract

Tuesday 25th April 2006

Clive Walker has been offered a new contract to keep him as manager of Dover Athletic until the end of next season, writes Justin Allen - www.doverathletic.com

The club's board of directors met on Monday night and all agreed that Clive should remain at Crabble until at least next summer.

Chairman Jim Parmenter said: "We've been delighted with Clive's work since he has come back to the club. We need stability at Dover Athletic and Clive has a proven track record which is second-to-none.

"I am still confident we will achieve promotion, as we set out to do, despite a long list of problems we've had this season.

"Had we not had such bad luck on the injury front this season, which was a freak, we'd have gone up automatically, no problems. We've drawn a lot of games and the odd Jimmy Dryden goal would've made a huge difference. But of course he has been out injured for four months this season.

"Whatever happens in these last games, Clive will still be here next season - and we're delighted with that.

"There's been too much chopping and changing at this club down the years - and we're not going to make those same mistakes again."

Meanwhile the club want fans to turn up early on Saturday and create a carnival atmosphere for a game which could prove to be their biggest since the new board of directors arrived last January.
