Trott: The league is tougher this year - EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

Friday 08th December 2006

Margate player-manager Robin Trott is desperate for tomorrow’s top three clash at Horsham to go ahead, writes Stephen McCartney.

Promoted side Horsham are currently leading the Ryman Premier League table with 35 points from their 18 league outings, with the Thanet side just two points behind in third place.

After beating Leyton, Hampton & Richmond Borough, Harrow Borough, Bromley and Tonbridge Angels, Margate crashed to a 4-2 defeat to Staines Town in their last game at Hartsdown Park on Tuesday 28th November and were frustrated when their home game with Carshalton Athletic last weekend was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

“We haven’t played any games because of the weather,” bemoaned Trott EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk.   “We do need to get some points together as it’s been a while.

Looking ahead to their trip to Queen Street, pitch conditions permitting, Trott added: “There’s a lot of surprises in this league, it’s going to be tough.

“They’re a good side, very strong and very together and it will be hard to break them down but we’ll try out utmost to break them down.”

Trott, however, believes his side will bounce back from defeat in their last game.

He said: “You are always looking to bounce back. Everyone is beating everyone. Braintree (who were leaders last season) were probably on 40 odd points (this time) last season so you can tell it’s a tougher league - it’s open for anyone.”
