Thamesmead Town boss Keith McMahon hails Ashley Probets' signing

Wednesday 11th August 2010
THAMESMEAD TOWN boss Keith McMahon has pulled off a major summer transfer coup by enticing talented left-back Ashley Probets to sign for the club, writes Stephen McCartney.

The 26-year-old joined Premier League giants Arsenal in August 2003, where he spent a season before transferring to Rochdale for a six-month stint in Lancashire.

Probets, who has previously played for Barnet, Welling United and VCD Athletic, has spent the previous two seasons with Ryman League side Chatham Town.

But a move to Blue Square Bet South giants Dartford had looked on the cards up until recently, having featured in several pre-season friendlies, including the matches against Millwall and Southend United.

There was no hiding the delight in the voice of Mead boss Keith McMahon when prompted about this big signing.

“Top class addition, quality” were the first words ushered by McMahon on the club website.

“There is little doubt that Ashley will strengthen the side immensely.  His style of play will fit in with out squad perfectly, this is a major signing for this football club.”
