We have had an excellent start to the season and long may it continue, says Thamesmead Town boss Terry Spillane

THAMESMEAD TOWN manager Terry Spillane says he is really looking forward to the game against his former club Redbridge tomorrow.

The Mead welcome the Essex side to Bayliss Avenue sitting in the top-five in the Ryman League Division One North table with 17 points from eight games.

Spillane’s side are four points adrift of league leaders AFC Sudbury, while Redbridge arrive sitting in the bottom seven on seven points from eight games.

Spillane, who guided Redbridge to The FA Cup Second Round in 2011, cannot wait for tomorrow’s encounter.

He said: “Really looking forward to playing against my former club tomorrow and as always I’m expecting a tough game.

“We are in a good run of form in the league but we will certainly not underestimate Redbridge.

“We will have the players focused and prepared for a battle as Redbridge will be looking to get some much needed points just as much as we do.

“We will have Jack Berry back available after his suspension which is a major boost and hopefully all being well we will have one or two new signings available that we have been tracking for a while.

“We have had an excellent start to the season and long may it continue but I keep reminding our squad that that’s all it is at this stage – a good start!

“The atmosphere and camaraderie within our squad is fantastic and we have got some very good characters and players. There are no big time Charlie’s within this group which I think helps and I’m sure that will help us continue our good start.

“As everyone knows the club is going through a transitional period and hopefully our progression both on and off the pitch continues.”
