Thamesmead Town boss Terry Spillane: Our bad luck in front of goal continued against a defence minded Heybridge Swifts side

Friday 04th December 2015

THAMESMEAD TOWN boss Terry Spillane says his side are suffering from a case of bad luck at present.

The Mead were held to a goal-less draw by bottom-of-the-table Heybridge Swifts on Monday night, a result that leaves them in a disappointing fourteenth-place in the Ryman League Division One North table on 31 points from 19 games.

“We drew on Monday against a resilient and defence minded Swifts, who on the night got the result they came for,” admitted a disappointed Spillane.

“We went down to ten men but anyone watching the game would not have noticed that as the boys put a shift in but for all the hard graft and the numerous chances we created. We just could not find the back of the net as our bad luck in front of goal continued.”

Thamesmead Town travel to Essex to play a side one place above them, who have the same number of points as The Mead.

“Tomorrow we face yet another tough away game for us,” said Spillane.

“They’ll be looking for revenge after we won there in a midweek FA Trophy replay so we will need to be at our best to get something from the game.

“The lads have trained very well last night and know exactly what’s in store for tomorrow so I’m hopeful of getting a good result.”
