Table topping Darts boss warns against complacency

Friday 08th September 2006
Table topping Dartford boss Tony Burman has warned against complacency when they tackle bottom-of-the-table side Hastings United at Thurrock’s Ship Lane tomorrow.

Speaking in his twice-weekly notes on www.dartfordfootballclub.co.uk Burman said: “Many times I have said that seven days is a long time in football. The next game is always the most important but the next seven days will be a big test for the team.

“Our opponents tomorrow lie at the bottom of the table and at present we are top. What we must remember is that we have only played four league games and in football things can change very quickly, therefore we cannot take anything for granted.

”We are all very pleased with the way that the team has performed and with their belief it breads confidence which for me has been a major factor to the start of the season.

”I am encouraged with the comments regarding sticking together on and off the field. To me this is so important to help the team get the right results. This week the lads have trained very well and the atmosphere in the camp is excellent.”

Defender John Farley has a good chance of being added to the squad against the east Sussex side and will have a fitness test before the game.

But  six foot nine goalkeeper  James Tedder, 19, has joined Kent League neighbours Slade Green on loan and Burman will call on him when he’s needed.

Burman, meanwhile, calls upon the club’s fans to travel the five miles through the tunnel to support the side.

He said: “With the good weather forecast I hope many of you can come to the game tomorrow. Your support is very important to the team and I am sure in return they will do their best to get the result that we want.”
