As arguably the most successful manager in the club’s history, Kinnear needs no introduction to Margate supporters having been in charge of the side that rose through the non-league pyramid winning two promotions in three years, including promotion to the (then) Nationwide Conference – now the Blue Square Bet Premier - and briefly topping the table in the autumn of 2001.

Other honours won included a Southern League Cup and four Kent Senior Cups. During Chris’s tenure Margate also made two appearances in the FA Cup proper; against Fulham in the season 1997/98 first round, and Cardiff City in the season 2002/03 second round.

Director Cliff Egan said told www.margate-fc.com: “We’re delighted to have Chris back at the club; he obviously has a proven track record.

“It has taken a little longer than we expected to put everything in place, including contacting all the other candidates for the manager’s job to explain our decision.”

Caretaker manager Kevin Raine has been working to prepare the team to face Lowestoft Town at Hartsdown Park on Saturday, with Kinnear taking charge of the team for the match.
