Stones unveil their sixth summer signing

Sunday 25th May 2008

MAIDSTONE UNITED made their sixth summer signing yesterday with the capture of former Bromley goalkeeper Andy Walker, 26.

Walker spent four years at Hayes Lane and made over 200 appearances. He gained two promotions, both via the play-off’s, and has won the Kent Senior Cup twice, with final wins over Gravesend & North fleet (as they were known at the time) and Tonbridge Angels. He has also played in the Bromley team that lost at Gillingham in the first round of the FA Cup a couple of season’s ago.

Stones joint-manager Alan Walker, speaking to www.maidstoneunited.co.uk, was delighted with his latest signing.

He said: “As soon as Lloyd and I knew he was available we went all out to get him,” he said.

Prior to his time at Bromley, the goalkeeper was a full-time professional with Colchester United, Exeter City and Doncaster Rovers, before drifting into the non-league game with Wingate & Finchley.

Meanwhile, the Stones boss also announced that Steve Northwood will stay with the club and Pat Mullin has been released.

Mullin made 137 appearances for the club and was an integral part of the Kent League and Ryman League Division One South championship winning sides.

The management team and the club would like to put on record their place to Mullin and wish him well in his future career.
