Stone returns to Bromley

Thursday 26th January 2006

Bromley manager George Wakeling has drafted Adrian Stone back to his depleted squad following a spell with Ryman League Division One strugglers Ashford Town.

The striker scored two goals in the first five minutes of the second half during their
3-2 defeat to Tonbridge Angels last weekend, in what was his 100th appearance for The Homelands club. During his seven game spell, the former Carshalton Athletic striker scored three goals.

Wakeling came under criticism from the Bromley faithful following Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat at Harrow Borough for fielding just one substitute when youngster Michael Donovan replaced striker Mark Tompkins during the second half.

Wakeling’s problems mounted as his ever-present goalkeeper, Andy Walker is unavailable until the middle of next month so he’s drafted in youngster Mark Davidson from Fulham on work-experience.

Davidson, who has also played for Farnborough Town this season, conceded four goals against Tottenham Hotspur in his last game for the west Londoners' reserve side.

Wakeling has, however, shown the door to former Gillingham players Jones Awuah (who scored 5 goals for Bromley) and Ashley Carew (one).

Meanwhile, East Thurrock United have secured the services of young Gillingham goalkeeper Danny Knowles for a third month.

Knowles, who played for Welling United under Paul Parker, celebrated his 20th birthday earlier in the month, has spent the last two months on loan with the Essex side.
