Slatter signs new one-year deal to stay at Fleet

Gravesend & Northfleet have today agreed a new one-year deal with former Welling United midfielder Danny Slatter.

Fleet manager Liam Daish told www.gnfc.co.uk: "We are pleased to have secured Danny for another season; he is a quality player and is keen to continue his career at the club.

"I firmly believe that ‘Fleet’ fans have not seen the best of Danny, this past season was affected by illness and it took a lot out of him, he was really quite badly affected for several months. I am sure that with a good pre season under his belt he will be an even better player next season."

Daish, however, revealed he will be working with a reduced budget and released six players earlier in the week.

But he promises his side will "bring an exciting new brand of football" to Stonebridge Road next season.

He said: "It is now well documented that as things currently stand we have to face quite significant reductions in the player’s budget for next season.

"This said I remain upbeat, we will have a hard core of players who have experienced Conference football and can only get better, intermingled with a group of new hungry faces who we hope will bring an exciting new brand of football to "The Fleet"
