Our game at Lordswood is massive, says Sheppey United assistant Barry Morgan

Friday 03rd November 2017

SHEPPEY UNITED assistant manager Barry Morgan says their game at Lordswood tomorrow is massive.

The Ites are in third-place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division, with 26 points from 12 league games, two points behind leaders Sevenoaks Town and one behind Crowborough Athletic.

Ernie Batten’s side extended their impressive unbeaten run to 13 games after thrashing Glebe 6-2 at Holm Park last weekend.

“With regard to our last game it was a good victory against Glebe, who done well against us in the first half,” said Morgan.

“We came in at half-time at 2-2 which I think was quite flattering to us.  After making a tactical change we improved quickly in the second half and thoroughly deserved our 6-2 win.”

Lordswood are in sixth-place in the table, only four points behind and Morgan said: “It should be a competitive encounter at Lordswood. We’ve already played them at our place, drawing 2-2 in a tough match.  Our preparation has been good this week and we are going into the game with a strong suad to pick from.

“You asked me to give a message to our supporters going into November and that would be more of the same please.

“We have the twelfth man and it comes in handy in some games, they’ve helped us to make Holm Park a fortress this season, so long may that continue.

“Also we know going to Lordswood there will be a strong travelling contingent to give us the edge hopefully.

“This game on Saturday is massive for us because we don’t have a league game until 18 November due to us progressing in The FA Vase and SCEFL Challenge Cup.”
