SEVENOAKS TOWN chairman Paul Lansdale has parted company with manager Micky Collins after eight amazing years in charge at Greatness Park.

“After an amazing eight seasons, Micky and I have spoken and we feel it’s time to make a change,” said Lansdale.

“It really has been an amazing journey and one the whole club will remember for many years to come.

“Micky has put little old Sevenoaks Town FC on the map and his support has always been unquestionable and unconditional.

“When you remember when he took over in May 2014 and when the club had just finished bottom of the Southern Counties East Football League in 2013-14.

“Micky is, and will continue to be, a much loved member of the Sevenoaks Town family and, despite this being a very disappointing announcement, Micky will always be very welcome at the club and fully deserves all the recognition for the amazing work and endless hours he has put into the success of the last few years.

“On behalf of the whole club, I want to wish Micky all the very best for the future and a massive thank you for eight amazing years.”

Under Collins, Sevenoaks Town won the Southern Counties East Football League Challenge Cup in 2017, before winning the Premier Division title a year later.

The club were promoted into the Isthmian League South East Division in 2018, but have found this season one of struggle and Lansdale has taken the decision to take action.

The club suffered a 4-0 hammering at promotion-chasing rivals Ashford United yesterday, extending their run of four league defeats on the spin and leaving them in relegation trouble.

Sevenoaks Town remain in the bottom three in the division, having collected 23 points (seven wins and two draws) from 27 games and have 11 league games remaining to avoid the drop.

Phoenix Sports won the bottom-of-the-table six-pointer against Whitstable Town by winning 2-0 at home, leaving Keith McMahon’s side rooted to the foot of the table with 22 points, while Phoenix Sports’ survival bid under Steve O’Boyle has them on 22 points too.

Phoenix Sports were at the foot of the table from matchday nine until yesterday, while Sevenoaks Town remain flirting with relegation, presently in the points-per-game zone.

The club are inviting applications ahead of their home game against Burgess Hill Town on Saturday, 19 February, while Collins' son, Louis, is top scorer at the club this season with 13 goals and his future at the club remains uncertain.

Anyone interested in applying should email vacancy@sevenoakstownfc.co.uk by 18:00 on Wednesday, 16 February 2022.

Sevenoaks Town enjoy lengthy runs in The FA Cup, The FA Vase and The FA Trophy under their most successful manager and will be big shoes to fill for the new man coming in, who must hit the ground running to avoid relegation.

Collins, meanwhile, guided Erith & Belvedere to the Kent League double in his last season in charge at Park View Road, before leaving the club in May 2013, before having a year out of the game before turning around Sevenoaks Town's fortunes, alongside chairman Lansdale.
