We travel to Orpington with some confidence taken from the last month, says Sporting Club Thamesmead joint-manager Danny Joy

SPORTING CLUB THAMESMEAD joint-manager Danny Joy says he will be without his leading goalscorer Josh Patrick for Saturday’s trip to Orpington.

Patrick has scored 10 goals for the Acre this season but he has broken two fingers and needs to have an operation, while Danny Frondigoun is suffering with a knee injury.

Sporting Club Thamesmead were knocked out of The Buildbase FA Vase in the Second Round after losing 2-1 at Sutton Common Rovers last Sunday.

“We gave a good account of ourselves in The FA Vase and narrowly lost by the off goal against a very good side in Sutton Common Rovers, who play in the league above,” said Joy.

The Acre travel to Orpington still second-from-bottom in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division table with only one win and three draws from their 11 games.

Lewisham Borough have played six games more and have lost all of their league games this season and remain rooted to the foot of the table.

Marc Bentz’s O’s go into the game in 11th place in the table and on a run of three straight league defeats.

Joy said: “We travel to Orpington with some confidence taken from the last month.  It’s always a tough place to visit against a team that’s always well-organised and hard-working.

“We have signed two youngsters on loan from Erith & Belvedere this week to bolster the squad and with nearly everyone available we are expecting another good performance on Saturday.

“Just a quick word for two boys who are out injured, Danny Frondigoun is out with a knee injury and Josh Patrick has broken two fingers and needs an operation.  We wish both lads well and hope they make speedy recoveries.”
