Southern Counties East Football League appoint Barry Wickenden as their commercial director

The Southern Counties East Football League are pleased to announce the appointment of a new commercial director ahead of their imminent expansion.

The League will merge with the Kent Invicta League at the end of the current season, bringing step 5 and 6 football in the region under one banner. 

As a result, the League has appointed Barry Wickenden as their new commercial director with immediate effect.

Mr Wickenden has worked in football over thirty years in football in the marketing, promotion and sales sector also as a coach and manager at Sevenoaks Town during their Kent County League days. 

His last two roles were at Ebbsfleet United and most recently commercial director at Bromley, seeing them gain promotion to the National League.

He will bring his professionalism knowledge and enthusiasm to the league at this ground breaking and exciting times.

Chairman Denise Richmond said: “The appointment of Barry Wickenden (also known as Wicksy) will bring fresh views on identifying opportunities for the league and its member clubs.

“Wicksy is looking to get back involved in football after a short break and sees this as an opportunity to help the league and clubs at the lower levels take a different approach to raising much-needed funds.”

The League are keen to secure more sponsors and partners to support Step 5 and 6 football in the region.
