Robbins unveils significant Cable signing
PROLIFIC striker Rikki Cable has joined his brother Ross at promotion chasing Kent League side Tunbridge Wells, writes Stephen McCartney.
He has agreed to sign for the Culverden Stadium outfit from Ryman League Division One North side Thamesmead Town, where he scored 12 goals this season.
Cable made his Wells’ debut during last night’s goal-less draw at Erith & Belvedere, which keeps them in third place in the table - four points behind leaders Hythe Town with one game in hand.
Tunbridge Wells manager Mike Robbins explained why he kept the high profile signing quiet ahead of yesterday’s Park View Road stalemate.
“We wanted to keep our cards close to our chests before the game at Erith & Belvedere, and make this significant announcement afterwards, when we were certain that he was playing,” Robbins told www.tunbridgewellsfc.co.uk.
“He has agreed to join after we made a seven day approach to Thamesmead last week. He trained with us, and has looked like he’ll fit in very well here.”
Cable is the second striker to have recently left Bayliss Avenue, as Richard Dimmock has recently opted to move to Erith & Belvedere.
