Mike Robbins has secured the signatures of two of Ashford Town’s promising youngsters for Sussex side Rye United.Richard Vidler and Dave Bourne both put pen to paper earlier this week, and hope to push for first team honours.

Vidler, 20, has also appeared in Tunbridge Wells colours, and has a handful of Ryman League appearances to his name.

Bourne, 19, who was previously a PASE player at Gravesend & Northfleet, was almost an ever present last year under Robbins in the Nuts and Bolts Reserves.

Robbins told www.kentishfootball.co.uk this morning: "I am hoping to secure a couple more later in the week, - we certainly have some potential and hungry young starlets at pre season."

"I will be running a tight 18-20 man squad, so the lads are really fighting for places."

The pair join Terry McCann and John Whittaker who signed some weeks ago.

The former
Hythe Town coach added: "We have had five sessions now, including one superb session on the beach. Attendance has averaged over 25 so things are looking positive.

"I am looking forward to the FA Draws today (at 11am), as its five years since I have been involved on these days when I was at
Barnstaple Town.”
