Rams will knock Brighton out of FA Youth Cup, insists boss Perry - EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

Tuesday 07th November 2006

Aaron Perry, the youth team manager at Ryman Premier League club Ramsgate, firmly believes his side will dump Brighton & Hove Albion out of the FA Youth Cup tomorrow night, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Rams make the first round trip to Bognor Regis Town’s Nyewood Lane in confident mood and Perry expects his side to earn a second round trip to Bristol City or Cheltenham Town.

The only other Kent non-league side left in the competition are Gravesend & Northfleet, who booked their second round berth with a 2-1 win at Dunstable Town to set up another trip, this time to either Redbridge or Wycombe Wanderers.

Ramsgate warmed up for their game against Brighton & Hove Albion with a 5-0 win at Canterbury City on Sunday.

And Perry, who has a fully-fit 24-man squad to pick from, expects his side to cause a shock at Nyewood Lane, the home of Nationwide Conference South outfit Bognor Regis Town.

He said EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk on the eve of the big game: “Very confident, the win on Sunday helps and I honestly believe we will win.

“We know a bit about them, we watched them against Colchester. They are quite a big and physical side and we honestly believe we can get at them very early and win.

“We don’t believe our cup run is going to stop here. We feel we can reach the third round.

“We’ll be leaving at half-past two. We don’t believe it’s a day out. We believe we’ve got a professional job to do.”
