RAMSGATE joint-manager Danny Ward says the club will keep faith with their young players to beat the drop.

The Rams suffered their fourteenth league defeat of the season when Herne Bay came away from Southwood Stadium with a 2-0 win on Boxing Day, which leaves the Rams in relegation trouble.

Ramsgate are fifth-from-bottom in the Ryman League Division One South table with 25 points from as many games and are only six points clear of the relegation zone.

Jim and Danny Ward take Ramsgate to tenth-placed Cray Wanderers on Saturday (13:00) and then to fifth-placed Hythe Town on Bank Holiday Monday, 2 January 2017 (15:00).

“What a great way to end one year and start a new with two games against big spending teams pushing for the play-offs,” said Danny Ward.

“The pressure is off us because we are not expected to pick up any points but we will be going to both games trying to upset the apple cart!

“Our luck is going to change hopefully sooner rather than later and we will be trying everything we can to start a run of good results in these two games.”

Ward insists Ramsgate will not overstretch their budget in a bid to avoid relegation.

“We are a club in transition this season and are very young and at this moment we are not getting the results our performances deserve,” he said.

“I’m extremely confident that we will soon push up the table and keeping this squad together for next season is essential so as we can push on towards the top of the table and the play-offs!

“As I’ve said before, there are a lot of teams in this league paying an extortionate amount of money and we will not go down that road and bankrupt our club.

“We will continue building from within and that young players will get a chance. It's just getting though this season with the amount of comings and goings we’ve had and the future looks bright for everyone involved at this club.”
