Ramsgate unveil the arrival of striker Kane Rowland from Whitstable Town

Tuesday 29th September 2015

RAMSGATE have unveiled another arrival from their league rivals Whitstable Town - and striker Kane Rowland could make his debut against at his former club tonight.

The striker scored 16 goals for bosses Jim and Danny Ward at Whitstable Town last season and becomes the seventh player to follow them along the Kent coast to Southwood Stadium this term.

Danny Ward told www.ramsgate-fc.co.uk: "Rowland is a great addition. He was promised the world by Whitstable but has not featured in their recent squads.

"That shows what an amazing squad Whitstable have,” Ward added with an ironic tone, before adding, "he's my son's best friend. He ends up eating all my food (in my house).”

The club put in a seven-day approach for Rowland last week and have completed the signing but are still waiting for full clearance for him to make a swift return to his former club.

Ward said: "He's a young lad who played for Ramsgate for a number of years, he was top goalscorer in Kent at youth level for a number of years.

"He's another local player, he's the right age and he could be one of Ramsgate's forwards for the next ten years without a shadow of a doubt. If he keeps improving who knows where he'll end up? But he's got to get a shirt first.

“He had the chance to come to us in the summer, obviously that never materialised and now he's come to us.

“It's more competition, we've got five forwards now with Kane, Ian Pulman, Joe Taylor, Matty Adams and Tom Loynes."

Meanwhile, Ward has also moved to clear up some confusion with regards to the game in Guernsey on Sunday.

The joint-boss has been outspoken with his views about the date of the game – and subsequently called it an "absolute disaster" after their flight was cancelled on the way to the 3-0 defeat.

"Guernsey did offer to switch the game," he said. "But it was to February 6, and we as a club felt that there was a better chance of it being called off then, and having to go back on a midweek.

"And when the flight was cancelled, I did think about asking to have the game called off but we had players taking time off work to play, it had cost the club money to arrange everything and we were all geared up to play the game on Sunday."
