It feels good to realise that we are all pulling in the same direction, says Ramsgate joint-manager Jim Ward

RAMSGATE joint-manager Jim Ward says there’s a positive feeling around the club.

The Rams are lying in the top nine in the Ryman League Division One South table with four wins, two draws and three defeats this season.  They are eight points adrift of league leaders Folkestone Invicta.

The Ward brothers regained control of Ramsgate after leading Whitstable Town to their highest position in the same division in their only season in charge at The Belmont.

“The feeling around Southwood is very positive, from the committee, players and supporters,” said Ward.

“It feels good to realise that we are all pulling in the same direction.

“At the start of the season Danny and I sat down with the chairman, Phil Fennel and devised a strategy, we decided to run with a small squad and enable us to develop the youth players at the club.

“The way the fixtures have been compiled has not been kind to us, also the injuries that we have picked up has been a problem.

“But on the positive side this has enabled us to have a look at some of the young talent that we have got.

“Unfortunately this leads to inconsistency and although we find ourselves in ninth position I feel there is a lot more to offer.

“Certainly I do not feel that any of the youth players have let the club down, all the young lads feel that they should be playing every week.

“We have now got four games in 10 days including a trip to Guernsey on a Sunday - this will be tough for us. But the target as it has always been over the years two points a game, eight points please.

“Tomorrow’s game sees Chipstead come to Southwood. Let’s hope we can give our fans something to sing and shout about!

“Our attendances are up by 20%, so we must be going in the right direction.”
