I feel it's only a matter of time when we get the results, says Punjab United boss Jugjit Sian

PUNJAB UNITED manager Jugjit Sian reveals being in a relegation dog-fight during their first season in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division is turning his hair grey.

The Gravesend based outfit are third from bottom in the table with 21 points on the board and have a big eight games remaining.

Hollands & Blair have leapfrogged over them on 22 points but Rusthall are only two points behind, but Punjab United have three games in hand, while Croydon are rooted to the foot of the table on eight points from 32 games.

“I’m enjoying every game in this division, even when things aren’t going to plan,” admitted Sian, who takes his side to fourteenth-placed Bearsted tomorrow.

“It’s great to be here and hope we can put some good performances in to stay up.

“The boys have been excellent. It’s not like we get outplayed, it’s all about taking our chances.”

Punjab United went down to a 1-0 defeat to Beckenham Town at Eden Park Avenue last weekend.

“We played so well last week at Beckenham. We should have been three up at half-time but ended up losing 1-0 to their only chance on goal,” added Sian.

“It’s a fine line in this division and that’s why we are where we are in the league.

“It’s amazing to think this season we are being followed by the BBC and it’s been a fantastic and real life experience of what football club’s go through week in week out.

“I feel it’s only a matter of time we get the results. It’s not going to be easy and all the club’s around the bottom are fighting to survive like us.

“I just hope we can stay up and re-group and come back next year and show this league what we can really do.

“It’s not been easy on and off the pitch. It’s been a massive learning curve for me and I have more grey hairs than ever before – but I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
