The club is on an amazing FA Vase journey and I hope it continues, says Punjab United boss Chipie Sian
PUNJAB UNITED manager Chipie Sian says it’s a dream come true to be playing in The FA Vase First Round tomorrow.
The Gravesend based side have saved their best results for the competition, having beaten Selsey (5-0) and Loxwood (3-2), while they have not yet won in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division and have picked up three draws from nine league games and sit at the foot of the table.
“The club is on an amazing journey and I hope it continues. The last four seasons has been a dream come true playing at this level and building a club from the ground up. I couldn’t have wished for more as a manager and chairman,” said Sian.
Punjab United host Newhaven, a side that sit in the top four in the Southern Combination Premier Division, having collected 19 points from 10 league games.
“Tomorrow we play in the First Round of The FA Vase. It’s a great achievement and I hope we can continue the good form in the cup to get through,” said Sian.
“It’s not going to be easy as we know Newhaven are a good side and it’s whoever wants it more on Saturday.
“Our recent form has been good and our league position needs to improve and I hope we can pick up our first three points soon as I can’t even look at the league table at the moment.
“I had to re-build the squad over the past few months and it’s taken a while but we’ve got good players in who want to fight for each other and myself. I need players who want to fight for each other and the last three games we should’ve picked up all three points in each game but we came away with three draws.
“But this is the level we are playing at. This league is competitive every game, every week.
“I love playing in this league and hope we can start to collect the wins we deserve, starting with a good performance tomorrow.”
