We've had a great start but we're not getting carried away, says Phoenix Sports boss Steve O'Boyle

Friday 23rd September 2016

PHOENIX SPORTS’ manager Steve O’Boyle says he’s not getting carried away with his side’s great start to the season.

The Barnehurst-based club are sitting proudly at the top of the Ryman League Division One North table on 23 points from 10 games and they are five points clear of Bury Town, who have a game in hand.

Phoenix Sports came away from Waltham Abbey with a 2-1 win on Tuesday night and they host Brightlingsea Regent tomorrow.

“We had a good away win in the week away to Waltham Abbey, but we will need to play a lot better against Brightlingsea if we are to win the game,” said O’Boyle.

“We are missing Calvin Poku, Steve Carvell and Ryan Andrews and Theo Fairweather-Johnson and Ricky Freeman will have fitness tests.

“We’ve had a great start but we are not getting carried away. It’s a tough league and a long season with lots of football to be played.

“Tomorrow is going to be another good test for us.”
