Our close-knit squad are all happy, insists Rams chairman

Ramsgate chairman Richard Lawson insists the club’s senior players are all under contract and that no approaches have been made by any other club.

The Rams, who were playing Kent League football last season, are third in the Ryman League Division One table, just two points behind leaders Horsham – with one game in hand.

Support at Southwood Stadium has also increased and the Thanet club are the seventh best supported club in the division, averaging 247.

However, speculation on internet message boards has been rife in recent weeks with some of the club’s key players being targeted  – but Lawson has issued the following statement on
www.ramsgatefc-co.uk insisting players will only leave the club if they can play at a much higher level than they can with the Rams.

”In response to a number of rumours that appear to be springing up on some of our rivals’ forums, I can confirm that the club’s senior players are all under contact and that no approaches have been made by any other club,” Lawson, whose club travel to Whyteleafe on Saturday, said.

”As far as I am aware all the players are happy at the club and no one has suggested they might wish to further their career elsewhere, although of course the club would not stand in the way of anyone who had an opportunity to a much higher level where they could end up with Ramsgate.

”I believe these rumours are mischief by our rivals’ supporters seeking to unsettle out close-knit squad and our supporters which, unfortunately, is something we have to endure with websites and forums.”
