Newly appointed Sierra Leona coach Rosenior selects Bromley star

Saturday 02nd June 2007

Newly appointed Sierra Leona coach, Leroy Rosenior, has named a 21-man squad to face Togo in Freetown on Sunday in a 2008 African Cup of Nations qualifying match - with a Kent connection.

The former West Ham striker has included Bromley midfielder Junior Kadi - or his real name, Nahim Khadi Jr - in his squad.

“It’s been a little bit hectic selecting the players,” Rosenior told BBC Sport. “We had 35 players and we’ve cut it down to 20 and I’m expecting one more player from Norway.

“It’s been fantastic settling down with the players and one thing that has struck me is the high motivation of these players.

“They desperately want to do well, this is fantastic and if I can channel that in the right direction then we’ve got the chance to achieve something.

“I’m getting to know the players and forming a good relationship with them and I think it’s going to work well.”
