New boss Simon Halsey keeps Lordswood management team together

Tuesday 21st May 2013
LORDSWOOD boss Simon Halsey has confirmed his management team for his first season in charge of the club.

Halsey parted company with Ryman League Division One South club Herne Bay with two games of the season to go, but was unveiled as Jason Lillis’ replacement by Kent League Lordswood on 1 May 2013.

Lillis guided the Lords to their highest ever position in the Kent League of fifth-place and they reached the Kent Senior Trophy Final for the first time but went down to a 2-1 defeat to Tunbridge Wells at Longmead Stadium in Tonbridge on 14 April.

Steve Arnold, who was assistant manger under Lillis, agreed yesterday to continue in his role.

Reserve team manager Ben Hilden will also continue in his role, looking to help progress the promising young talent through into the first-team set-up.

Lordswood would like to welcome Sam Clark-Keen to the club.  The physio has followed Halsey from Herne Bay and will be keeping Lordswood’s players in condition following the departure of Donna Walker to Whitstable Town.

A club statement said: “Simon has met with the current squad and is currently having ongoing negotiations with the players regarding next season.

“He is also in talks with players not currently with the club as he looks to add strength and depth to the side in order to build on what was achieved during the 2012/13 season.”

Lordswood are looking to recruit a goalkeeper coach to work primarily with the reserve and first team goalkeepers.

Candidates must be available to work one to two nights a week for training and coaching sessions and must be available to travel to all first team games on Saturday’s and midweek.

Any interested candidates should call Simon Halsey on 07769 264 852.
