My new signings all have potential, says Ward - EXCLUSIVE

Sunday 10th June 2007

Ramsgate boss Jim Ward has this weekend signed four new players as he prepares for the club’s second Ryman Premier League campaign, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Scot has signed former VCD Athletic and Maidstone United central defender Nick Davis on a two-year contract, following his release from Blue Square Southern outfit Fisher Athletic.

And earlier today Ward unveiled the captures of Danny Wisker and Danny Dolton from their league, and Thanet rivals, Margate - and later in the day, signed Sam Vallance from Ryman League Division One South outfit Dover Athletic.

Davis, Vallance, Wisker, Scott Holden and Steffan Ball have all signed two-year contracts this summer.

And Ward hailed his signings today, admitting the trio all have “potential.”

Vallance is a young defender who progressed through the youth ranks at Dover Athletic and got his chance in 2004 and was a regular starter for periods during the 2004-05 campaign. He was selected for England Schoolboy trials in 2004.

Ward said that Vallance can play in the heart of defence, at right-back, or in midfield.

“He’s another one with loads of potential,” Ward said EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk  when breaking the news tonight.

“He’s one who everyone’s been talking about, so we’ve jumped in and signed him.”

Speaking about Wisker, Ward said: “Danny’s another one whose full of potential. He can play midfield, wide, he’s one for the future.

“It will be interesting to see where he goes from here, there’s a lot of talk about him - let’s hope he fulfils his ambition.”

Ward, however, hopes Dolton will be able to shine for the Rams.

He said: “Danny’s had a go at Margate, never worked for him. He’s going to come along pre-season (and he’s) another one who wants to have a go.

“A really good player and I hope he fulfils his potential.”
