Millwall swoop for former Darts winger

MILLWALL BOSS Kenny Jackett has signed Crystal Palace winger Dave Martin for an initial fee of £50,000 - which could rise to £100,000 depending on appearances, reports BBC Sport.

Former Thamesmead Town and Slade Green winger Martin, 22, almost joined the Lions from Dartford in January 2007 before moving to the Eagles instead for a fee of £25,000.

He made 15 appearances for Palace but has now put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal with Millwall.

Jackett told Millwall’s website: “David will give us pace and balance as a wide left-sided player and I expect him to go straight into our squad to face Doncaster on Saturday.”

Martin added: “I’ve known this move has been on the cards for a few weeks now, but it wasn’t clear that it might actually happen until a few hours before the deadline.

“I’m really pleased everything’s done now and I’m looking forward to the chance of regular first team football with Millwall.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Eddie McClements has been ruled out of Dartford's game against Northwood tomorrow as he hasn't recovered from his groin strain.

Darts boss Tony Burman has also revealed that former Dulwich Hamlet winger Phil Williams is rated 50/50 for the Princes Park clash, having picked up a knock during the midweek Kent Senior Cup tie at Ebbsfleet United, which they lost 4-1.

Defender John Guest, meanwhile, has shaken off an ankle injury as Burman looks to consolidate top spot in the Ryman League Division One North table.
